What this site covers

The focus is narrow on purpose: the everyday decisions a reader faces when a personal collection outgrows a single shelf. That means how to keep an order you can maintain, how to choose shelving that protects books rather than harming them, and how to keep volumes sound through Canadian seasons.

How the notes are written

Guidance is drawn from publicly available sources, including the Canadian Conservation Institute, Library and Archives Canada and the documentation of the Dewey Decimal Classification. Where exact figures are not established, the notes use neutral wording rather than invented numbers. Each article links to the sources it draws on.

What this site is not

BrightAndHome is independent and is not affiliated with any of the organizations it links to. The notes are general information for home readers and do not replace a treatment assessment from a qualified conservator, which remains the right step for rare, valuable or damaged books.
